For the first time, the Country Music Association has partnered with Billboard for an official Voter Guide for “The 47th Annual CMA Awards.”
The 32-page Guide will be available in October and will feature editorial coverage of the nominees, historical glimpses from previous Awards broadcasts, industry trends, reflections from previous Entertainer of the Year winners, and a look at CMA’s influence and leadership in the industry over the past 55 years.
The CMA Awards Voter Guide will be poly-bagged with the Oct. 19 issue of Billboard (on sale Oct. 12). In addition to Billboard subscribers, the special issue will be delivered to all CMA members.
“Billboard is excited to form this partnership with the Country Music Association to bring more attention to their Awards and help artists market their own successes,” said Bill Werde, Editorial Director of Billboard. “Like Billboard, CMA is an organization with a lengthy and rich legacy that is making bold strides to help the music business innovate today.”
“Billboard is uniquely qualified to produce the official CMA Awards Voter Guide given its editorial credibility and authority with both the industry and consumer music fans,” said Ed Hardy, President of the CMA Board of Directors. “The Voter Guide is a tremendous vehicle to reach our industry voters, highlight our nominees, and shine a spotlight on ‘Country Music’s Biggest Night™’.”
As an official media partner, Billboard will promote the CMA Awards across multiple platforms including the print magazine, web, and e-newsletters – reaching both industry insiders and millions of music enthusiasts.
In addition to the printed CMA Awards Voter Guide, there will be extensive coverage of the CMA Awards on Billboard.com, the online destination for millions of music fans, commencing with the live stream of the CMA Awards final nominees today.
“The 47th Annual CMA Award” will be held Wednesday, Nov. 6 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and broadcast live on the ABC Television Network. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood return to host for the sixth time.
CMA Awards nominees and winners are determined by more than 7,000 industry professional members of CMA, which was the first trade organization formed to promote an individual genre of music in 1958.
Winners of “The 47th Annual CMA Awards” will be determined in a final round of voting by eligible voting members of CMA. CMA Awards balloting is officiated by the international accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche LLP. The eligibility period for the 2013 CMA Awards is July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013. The third and final ballot will be emailed on Thursday, Oct. 10. Voting for the CMA Awards final ballot ends Monday, Oct. 28 (5:00 PM/CT).
