CMA Hosts Songwriting Master Class With Education Through Music

NASHVILLE – The Country Music Association hosted a songwriting master class with music educators from New York-based Education Through Music (ETM) Tuesday morning at Joe’s Pub in New York City. More than 20 teachers participated in the class, featuring a Q&A session with CMA Board member and Songwriters Hall of Fame member Bob DiPiero as he discussed the impact music education had on his creative development.

Students from ETM partner schools will give a special performance tomorrow during a press conference announcing the final nominees for “The 48th Annual CMA Awards.” ETM’s mission is to promote the use of music in schools as a means of enhancing students’ academic performance and general development. In the upcoming school year, ETM will serve 20,000 students and 40 teachers in 38 inner-city schools in New York City.
