EVENT HISTORY

Launched as Fan Fair® in 1972, the very first Festival was attended by 5,000 people and was held at Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium. The event moved to the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in 1982, then to Downtown Nashville in 2001. The 2010 and 2011 Festivals sold out Nashville’s LP Field with 65,000 Country fans attending per day. The 2013 festival’s daily attendance was a record-setting 80,000.

In 2004, the CMA Music Festival was chronicled in a 2-hour primetime, network TV special on CBS. The following year the TV special – now known as “CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock” – jumped to ABC, where it has aired annually ever since. In 2009 the special grew to be 3 hours long.

CMA FOUNDATION

Guided by the generosity of the Country Music community, the CMA Foundation focuses on improving and sustaining music education programs everywhere while supporting worthwhile causes important to the Country Music Association.  Thanks to the generosity of Country artists playing CMA Music Festival for free, music education programs have been supported, sustained and implemented in communities throughout the country.  Music education in a child’s life is more than just practicing for a recital or upcoming school performance.  Children exposed to musical training develop fine motor skills, aids emotional and behavioral maturation.  Music education at its core is about teaching students to think.  Country artists and our fans are investing in the next generation of scholars through music education.  Without their commitment and continuous support, the more than $11 million given to support music education would not be possible.  Thank you for showing up.  Not just for the CMA Music Festival but for students everywhere.  Music education matters!

FAN PHOTO LINES

Fan Photo Lines are a huge benefit for CMA Fest four-day ticket holders. With a four-day ticket, you can take photos directly in front of the stages at LP Field (Nightly Concerts) and Riverfront Park (Daily Concerts). This lets YOU get up close to your favorite artist’s performance, no matter where your seats are located!

Please note that Fan Photo Lines access is reserved ONLY for four-day Ticket holders.

Due to Fan Photo Line demand and volume of participants, the lines must keep moving to accommodate all eligible fans. Event staff and signage will be onsite to assist in this process.
