The CMA Foundation is committed to supporting the ecosystem responsible for giving our children and communities quality music education. We value the position and responsibility our music teachers have in creative youth development. The Foundation recognizes the importance of our teachers and invests millions each year supporting their careers. We believe music is a right by all students and is a vital piece of a well-rounded education.

An event inspired by teachers, for teachers
Through our partnership with Metro Nashville Public Schools, the CMA Foundation was given the opportunity to interview several music teachers on the challenges facing the music education field. Common themes were identified in the answers. Many music teachers did not feel appreciated or celebrated. In 2016, the CMA Foundation launched the inaugural CMA Music Teachers of Excellence, an event recognizing music teachers for their accomplishments in the classroom and community. To date, the event has invested $400,000 to support our Music Teachers of Excellence recipients.
