CMA Songwriters Series Continues 10th Anniversary Celebration in Austin

Bob DiPiero, Rob Hatch, Jamey Johnson, and Raúl Malo Share the Stories Behind Their Hits

NASHVILLE – The CMA Songwriters Series brings its 10th Anniversary season to The Parish in Austin on Wednesday, Oct. 15 (8:00 PM/CT; doors at 7:00 PM/CT). Celebrating its decade-long run, the CMA Songwriters Series features songwriter and host Bob DiPiero performing alongside Rob Hatch, Jamey Johnson, and Raúl Malo. Tickets go on sale Friday, Sept. 12 (10:00 AM/CT).

Songwriter Hatch has penned hits for Rhett Akins, Terri Clark, George Jones, Jake Owen, and Gretchen Wilson, as well as having several songs cut by Johnson. Most recently Hatch celebrated No. 1 songs with Randy Houser’s “Goodnight Kiss” and Lee Brice’s “I Don’t Dance,” for which he has been nominated for the 2014 CMA Song of the Year Award.

Acclaimed singer-songwriter and two-time CMA Award winner Johnson, best known for his 2008 smash hit “In Color,” has had his hand in writing some of the biggest songs in Country Music. In addition to most of his own material, Johnson has co-written singles for Jessie James, Joe Nichols, James Otto, Trace Adkins and George Strait.

Malo is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and record producer that is best known as the lead singer of Country group The Mavericks and the co-writer of many of their singles. The Mavericks took home CMA Awards for Vocal Group of the Year in 1995 and 1996.

CMA Songwriters Series host and a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame DiPiero (“Southern Voice” recorded by Tim McGraw, “Blue Clear Sky” recorded by Strait, and “Lovin’ You Is Fun” recorded by Easton Corbin) will also return to the stage, sharing the entertaining stories behind some of his most popular hit songs. DiPiero has had more than 1,200 songs recorded by other artists, countless hit singles, and an astounding 15 No. 1 hits.

The CMA Songwriters Series kicked off its 10th Anniversary season with standing-room-only shows at the Sundance Film Festival in January, and has performed shows in Paradise Island, Bahamas as part of the Atlantis Live Paradise Music Festival Presented by HGTV, New York, and London already in 2014. Other planned performance locations this year include Nashville and a return to New York City.

Also in 2014, CMA has partnered with public television’s critically-acclaimed concert series “Front and Center” to present two separate hour-long concert specials for the 2014 fall season. The shows will feature the music of CMA Award winner and 2014 CMA Awards nominee Lady Antebellum as they are joined by special songwriter guests, and a special 10th Anniversary CMA Songwriters Series celebration with CMA Award winner and 2014 CMA Award nominee Dierks Bentley. Bentley will be joined by top songwriters Jim Beavers, Ross Copperman, Brett James, and Jon Randall. The episodes, which taped earlier this year in Nashville, are scheduled to air in October leading up to “The 48th Annual CMA Awards.” Check local listings for dates and times.
