CMA Songwriters Series Returns to New York City December 11 & 12

Songwriters Chris DeStefano, Ashley Gorley, Matt Jenkins, and Leslie Satcher Perform at Joe’s Pub for final CMA Songwriters Series Event of 2015

NASHVILLE – The CMA Songwriters Series wraps 2015 with a return to New York City and Joe’s Pub, home of the first CMA Songwriter Series in 2005, Friday, Dec. 11 and Saturday, Dec. 12 for two shows each night (6:30 PM/ET and 9:00 PM/ET). Celebrating the stories behind Country Music’s greatest hits, this CMA Songwriters Series features songwriters Chris DeStefano, Ashley Gorley, Matt Jenkins, and Leslie Satcher.

The 11th season of the CMA Songwriters Series featured some great moments, kicking off the first shows of 2015 at the world famous Sundance Film Festival and continuing with appearances in Chicago, London, Nashville, Toronto, and Washington, D.C.

The series continued to garner national and international television exposure in 2015. For the first time,  the CMA Songwriters Series event in Toronto was taped for a special that aired CMT Canada and CMA’s ongoing partnership with public television’s popular and critically-acclaimed series “Front and Center” will  continue to present the CMA Songwriters Series on U.S. Television.

The CMA Songwriters Series has found a home on TV, but television stars are also finding a home in the Series. The night after “The 49th Annual CMA Awards” was highlighted by a special edition of the Series that featured performances by the male cast of ABC Television Network’s “Nashville” including Chris Carmack (Will Lexington), Will Chase (Luke Wheeler), Charles Esten (Deacon Clayborne), Jonathan Jackson (Avery Barkley), and Sam Palladio (Gunnar Scott), who were joined by “Nashville” guest star Mark Collie (Frankie), musician Colin Linden, and Nashville songwriters Trent Dabbs, Chris Gelbuda, Travis Meadows, and Jonathan Singleton.

“The continued growth and popularity of the series this year has been very rewarding,” said Sarah Trahern, CMA Chief Executive Officer. “CMA is very proud to shine a national and international spotlight on the art of songwriting and our outstanding songwriter community.”

An award-winning singer/songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, DeStefano has penned hit singles for Luke Bryan (“Kick the Dust Up” and “That’s My Kind of Night”), Chris Young (“Aw Naw”), and Carrie Underwood’s “Good Girl,” “Little Toy Guns,” and “Something in the Water,” which was No. 1 for seven weeks. DeStefano also co-wrote and produced Brett Eldredge’s No. 1 single “Don’t Ya.”

Gorley is a CMA Triple Play Award recipient, which is presented to songwriters who pen three chart-topping hits in a 12-month period. He is responsible for a string of major hits with some of Country Music’s biggest stars including Trace Adkins (“You’re Gonna Miss This”), Jason Aldean (“Just Getting Started” and “Tonight Looks Good on You”), and Brad Paisley (“American Saturday Night,” “Start a Band,” and “Then”).

With more than 50 major label recordings, Jenkins has penned hits for some of the biggest names in Country Music, including Dierks Bentley, Florida Georgia Line, Sam Hunt, and Blake Shelton. He co-wrote Dustin Lynch’s No. 1 single “Where It’s At,” Keith Urban’s Top 10 “Cop Car,” and “Fade Into You” from ABC’s hit show “Nashville.”

Over the past two decades Satcher’s songs have been recorded by dozens of singers representing nearly every style within the Country Music genre. Just a sampling of the singers who have recorded her songs include George Jones (“What Would Waylon Do?”), Patty Loveless (“Everything But The Words”), George Strait (“High-Tone Woman”),  Jim Lauderdale (“What’s On My Mind”), Merle Haggard (“Politically Uncorrect”), and Bonnie Raitt (“You Remain”).

Since 2005, the CMA Songwriters Series has presented more than 90 shows in 15 cities including Austin, Belfast, Chicago, Dublin, London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Phoenix, and Washington, D.C. at the renowned Library of Congress. Some of the artists who have been part of the series include Bentley, Clint Black, Kix Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Sara Evans, Hunter Hayes, Lady Antebellum, Martina McBride, Darius Rucker, Josh Turner, Underwood, Young, and more.
