CMA Takes Country Music Abroad During C2C Festival

NASHVILLE – The Country Music Association gave fans a deeper look into Country Music and engaged international music executives as festivities in the U.K. were in full swing for C2C, Country 2 Country Festival, the U.K.’s largest Country Music Festival. C2C featured performances from the biggest names in Country including Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Brandy Clark, Florida Georgia Line, Brantley Gilbert, Lady Antebellum, Kip Moore, and Lee Ann Womack.

The weekend kicked off with a special presentation of the CMA Songwriters Series Friday night at indigo at The O2 in London. Presented in partnership with the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. (NCVC), the evening was hosted by Kix Brooks with Jessi Alexander, Clark, Sam Palladio, and Jon Randall. Due to their overwhelming success at last year’s CMA Songwriters Series at C2C, Striking Matches was invited to join the show as special surprise guests.

Saturday brought U.K. native Palladio, songwriter and star of the hit ABC show “Nashville,” to the stage again, this time with the BBC’s Mark Hagen in a “CMA Talk” where he performed acoustically and discussed his career as an actor and musician. Meanwhile, Alexander, Brooks, Clark, and Randall greeted fans during autograph sessions at the CMA Booth in Town Square.

CMA also hosted meetings and receptions that brought international executives together to discuss all things Country Music, including a CMA Executive Strategy Session with the CMA U.K. Advisory Council. This meeting of international minds allowed some key leaders of the international music community to have an open dialogue with CMA executives and Board members regarding the future of Country Music abroad.

Other weekend events included screenings at Cineworld at The O2 of the CMA Songwriters Series Public Television specials featuring Dierks Bentley and Lady Antebellum, along with CMA’s own annual ABC special, 2014’s “CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock.”
