CMA Foundation

Five-time CMA Vocal Group of the Year Little Big Town joins music teachers on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee in celebration of the CMA Foundation's Music Teachers of Excellence event. Little Big Town was host of the gala, and the group's Karen Fairchild serves on the CMA Foundation Board of Directors.

Guided by the generosity of the Country Music community, the CMA Foundation focuses on improving and sustaining music education programs everywhere while supporting worthwhile causes important to the Country Music Association.

Inspiring a love for music in people around the world through the charitable giving of the Country Music community is our vision. Since its inception, the CMA Foundation has given more than $17.5 million to organizations enhancing the lives of students through the power of music. Music Education has proven to be an effective and invaluable tool by influencing student’s academic achievement, social development and increased participation in activities.

Without the support of the Country Music community these efforts would not be possible.

Each year, hundreds of Country artists perform at CMA Music Festival for free, and to show its appreciation for their dedication and time, CMA donates half the net proceeds from the event to benefit music education programs on behalf of the artists and celebrities.

The origins of the program began in 2001, when CMA Music Festival, then known as Fan Fair, moved to downtown Nashville for the first time. From 2001-2005, participating artists could select individual charities for donations and CMA contributed more than $800,000 to hundreds of worthy causes.

In 2006, the CMA Artist Relations Committee, led by Kix Brooks formerly of Brooks & Dunn, decided to channel those financial resources into a single cause – music education – through CMA’s “Keep the Music Playing” campaign to have a more meaningful impact in an area of importance to the entire music community. The CMA Foundation was launched in 2011 and currently gives to 30 music education initiatives across the country.
