HOLIDAY-THEMED COUNTRY MUSIC SALES SOAR FOLLOWING THE "CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS" BROADCAST

Music Streaming Services Indicate Gains for Christmas-Specific Country Music Songs Compared to Daily Streaming Averages Prior to the Airing of “CMA Country Christmas”

NASHVILLE – Not only did Country Music fans contribute to a ratings bump for “CMA Country Christmas,” they also triggered a flurry of holiday-themed Country Music sales and streaming following the airing of the special.

A CMA analysis, based on BuzzAngle Music data, indicates a 363 percent gain in song sales during the analysis period for the songs performed in the taping. Data also revealed a 14 percent gain in album sales containing Christmas songs performed on “CMA Country Christmas.”

Songs performed during the two-hour holiday special also experienced heavy streaming traffic as evidenced by a 129 percent gain.

Based on the daily streaming averages pre-airing versus daily streaming averages post-airing, the top five songs that saw the biggest lift in streaming activity following the special were “Little Drummer Boy” by host Jennifer Nettles and Idina Menzel, “Christmas Makes Me Cry” by Kacey Musgraves, “The First Noel” by Chris Young, “Country Christmas” by Loretta Lynn, and “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” by Brett Eldredge.

An encore of “CMA Country Christmas” will air Saturday, December 24 (9:00–11:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network.
