C2C: Country 2 Country

Some of Country’s top stars joined forces March 16-17 in London for the first-ever C2C: Country to Country festival, held at the famous O2 arena. Judging by the crowd – and media – response, London has gone Country! Tens of thousands of Country fans turned out, rose to their feet and cheered as headliners Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Vince Gill, LeAnn Rimes, Darius Rucker, Little Big Town, Kristian Bush and Brantley Gilbert cranked out their top hits. It was a rare treat for Country-loving Londoners to see the genre’s top stars on one stage over two nights. The event was organized by O2 and SJM Concerts in association with the Country Music Association, and plans are underway to make it an annual event.

Miss it this year? C2C returns March 15-16, 2014, at London’s O2! Keep track of all the updates at C2C-CountrytoCountry.com and at CMAworld.com.

THE BRITISH MEDIA HAVE SPOKEN, AND THEY’RE FEELING THE COUNTRY
CONNECTION TOO. HERE’S WHAT THEY’RE SAYING ABOUT THE 2013 C2C:

“The hour (LeAnn Rimes) spent on stage was a slice of musical heaven. Someone once told me that when you hear a truly great performer, every word they sing or every note they play will dig a little way into your soul. Believe me, LeAnn Rimes is that good. In 40 years of gig-going I don't think I've heard a better voice....”

“Darius is a man of many talents, who has now found his sound in country music. When he entered the room, the whole O2 Arena came truly alive. We’ve never seen anything like it. His vibe was happy, joyful, humble, loving, kind, playful …It was an absolute joy to watch. He was like a big, warm cuddle of fun. His positivity and energy was absolutely incredible and infectious! Faces were transformed and the entire room looked as though they were about to explode from excitement.”

“The artists seem genuinely stoked to be here: Tim McGraw has sold 40m albums, but he's never played the UK: ‘Can you feel the spirit of country music moving all over you?’ he asks the audience. ‘Over there? Down the middle? Give me a 'Hallelujah!'’ He and Darius Rucker, the most successful black country singer since Charley Pride, have released UK singles to coincide with this gig, and tonight the highest tiers of the O2 twinkle with Stetsons: there are middle-aged couples, young people in plaid shirts, and girls who've come for Carrie Underwood on Sunday. The arena changes character, feels warmer: it makes you realise, not for the first time, how small is the layer of music that gets ‘hyped’ in the UK.”
