Country Music in the 2014 Grammy Spotlight
This year the Grammys are shining the spotlight even brighter than usual on Country Music.
Solo performers this year include Hunter Hayes, Kacey Musgraves and Taylor Swift, while fans will be treated to a collaboration between Blake Shelton, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard and CMA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Willie Nelson.
Keith Urban will join John Mayer for a Grammy salute to the Beatles, plus Miranda Lambert will join Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong for a tribute to the late Phil Everly of The Everly Brothers, members of CMA’s Country Music Hall of Fame. Country presenters on Grammy night include Hayes, Martina McBride and Zac Brown.
Best of luck to all the nominees in the Country song, album, solo performance and duo/group performance categories. Country artists represented in all-genre categories include Taylor Swift for Album of the Year for Red, and Kacey Musgraves for Best New Artist.
Other Country honors at the Grammys include Dolly Parton’s song ‘Jolene’ and Kris Kristofferson’s self-titled debut album being inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Kristofferson was also presented with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award on Jan. 25.
