At Sunday's Super Bowl, all eyes will be on pop star Alicia Keys as she delivers the national anthem to the world's football-hungry fans. Last year, CMA Female Vocalist of the Year nominee Kelly Clarkson gave a stirring rendition.

Here's a quick look back at Country's history during football's biggest game:

1993: Garth Brooks performed the national anthem at Super Bowl XXVII at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. That same year, Brooks asked NBC to show a video for his song "We Shall Be Free." When NBC refused, Brooks walked out of the stadium 45 minutes before he was set to perform. Realizing his determination, NBC moved the kick-off time to play Brooks’ video. Because of this incident, the NFL started requiring all artists to pre-record the anthem. The Dallas Cowboys beat the Buffalo Bills, 52-17. Photo: Spokeo

1994: The theme for Super Bowl XXVIII was "Rockin’ Country Sunday." The game was played at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta and featured Halftime performances by country greats Clint Black, Tanya Tucker, Travis Tritt, and Wynonna and Naomi Judd. The Judds performed their single "Love Can Build a Bridge." The Dallas Cowboys beat the Buffalo Bills, 30-13. Photo: Spokeo

That year, Twain became the first Country artist to perform at both the Super Bowl and the Canadian Football League championship. It was also the first time in history that the No. 1 ranked offense, the Oakland Raiders, was pitted against the No. 1 ranked defense, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
