NASHVILLE – “The 37th Annual CMA Awards” airs live Wednesday Nov. 5 (8:00-11:00 PM/EST) on the CBS Television Network from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tenn. Each week leading up to the CMA Awards, CMA will spotlight one of the Award categories with trivia about the nominees.
One of the highlights of the CMA Awards each year is the presentation of the Male Vocalist of the Year Award. Due to a rare tie in voting, this year there are six nominees in this category.

Answer: B) Alan Jackson. Jackson’s duet with Jimmy Buffet, “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere,” which is also nominated for Vocal Event of the Year, spent eight weeks atop the Billboard Country Singles chart this year. The duo will kick off “The 37th Annual CMA Awards” with the hit song.

Answer: A) George Strait. Strait, like CMA Awards host Vince Gill, has won Male Vocalist of the Year five times (1985-86 and 1996-98). Strait could earn an unprecedented sixth trophy in the category in 2003. Vince Gill won the Award five consecutive times from 1991-95.
