NASHVILLE – “The 37th Annual CMA Awards” airs live Wednesday Nov. 5          (8:00-11:00 PM/EST) on the CBS Television Network from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville Tenn. Each week leading up to the CMA Awards, CMA will spotlight one of the Award categories with trivia about the nominees.

One of the greatest moments of the CMA Awards each year is the presentation of the Entertainer of the Year Award. The CMA Entertainer of the Year Award is largely regarded as the Country Music industry’s top prize.

Which artist has won the most Entertainer of the Year trophies in CMA history?

A) George Strait
B) Garth Brooks
C) Alabama
D) Alan Jackson

Answer: B) Garth Brooks. Brooks has won Country Music’s top prize four times in two sets of back-to-back years. The first pair of wins came in 1991-92, and then he earned the honors again in 1997-98. Brooks has 30 career nominations and 11 career wins to his credit. 


Which of the Entertainer of the Year nominees’ given first name is ‘Samuel?’

A) Toby Keith
B) Kenny Chesney

Answer: C) Tim McGraw. Country superstar Tim McGraw was named Samuel Timothy when he was born in 1967, but he has never used the name. The 2001 CMA Entertainer of the Year went by ‘Timmy’ in his youth but shortened his moniker as he matured.


All of 2003’s Entertainer of the Year nominees will be performing on the show. Who will be the show opener?

Jackson will open the 2003 CMA Awards with duet partner Jimmy Buffett on their 2003 Vocal Event of the Year-nominated “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere.” Jackson was the big winner in 2002, taking home a record-tying five trophies.  This year he is nominated in three categories.

Answer: A) Kenny Chesney. On October 7th, Chesney released All I Want for Christmas is a Real Good Tan, his first holiday album and his first release since the triple-Platinum No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems. Besides Entertainer of the Year, Chesney is also nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year. A win in either category will give Chesney his first career CMA Award.


After more than a year on the chart, whose album is still in the top ten on the Billboard Country Albums chart?

Answer: C) Toby Keith. Keith’s triple-Platinum Unleashed has spent 65 weeks on the chart.
