CMA PARTICIPATES IN MACY’S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE®

Mercury Nashville Artist Julie Roberts To Ride And Perform on First Float

NASHVILLE – Strike up the band, Mercury Nashville artist Julie Roberts will ride atop the first float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade® performing for an estimated 55 million television viewers and spreading the word about “The 39th Annual CMA Awards” headed to the Big Apple for one year in 2005.

“This is a quintessential New York event and we are thrilled to be part of it with such a lovely and talented ambassador for the CMA Awards with Julie Roberts,” said CMA Executive Director Ed Benson. “One of the goals of hosting the CMA Awards in New York City in 2005 was raising the profile of Country Music in this important market and participating in the Macy’s Parade is a first step in that direction.”

Roberts, who was a 2004 CMA Horizon Award nominee, will be riding on the first float in the Parade – the iconic Tom Turkey. But this is no fowl float. Roberts will be performing material from her self-titled debut during the televised portion of the Parade. The float will feature signage promoting the 2005 CMA Awards in New York City and float sponsor, Big3 Entertainment.

“We are excited to have CMA participate in one of New York City and America’s most beloved traditions,” Benson said.  “This is only the beginning of how we plan to integrate CMA activities into the fabric of New York City during the next year.”

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade® will be broadcast on NBC, Thursday, Nov. 25 (9:00 AM–Noon in all time zones).

“The 39th Annual CMA Awards” will be held Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The CMA Awards return to Nashville for the 40th Anniversary of “Country Music’s Biggest Night” in 2006.
