CMA CELEBRATES THE WOMEN OF COUNTRY DURING SATURDAY’S CMA LUNCHEON AT CRS

NASHVILLE – Traditionally a highlight of Country Radio Seminar (CRS), this year’s CMA luncheon should be an exciting and emotional event for attendees, said CMA Executive Director Ed Benson. The multi-media event celebrates the women that shaped the format during a 35-year retrospective of the CMA Female Vocalists of the Year.

“Following the enormous success of last year’s luncheon, which was a tribute to the CMA Awards Single of the Year winners, we are turning the spotlight on our Female Vocalist of the Year category,” Benson said. “I can’t give away who will be there, but I can promise a meaningful and entertaining afternoon.”

The luncheon in 2001 was an emotional journey through more than three decades of hits that brought people to their feet mixing spontaneous standing ovations and tears of nostalgia. And this year promises even more. The multi-media presentation will be highlighted by several live performances with special guests covering every Female Vocalist of the Year winner since the inception of the CMA Awards in 1967, when Loretta Lynn claimed the trophy, to 2001 when Lee Ann Womack picked up her first Female Vocalist of the Year Award.

The luncheon, which is open to all CRS registrants, will be held from Noon to 2:00 PM/CST, Saturday, March 2, at the Nashville Convention Center.

The CMA luncheon at CRS always proves to be one of the highlights of Country Radio’s most exciting week. More than 3,000 radio professionals are expected to attend CRS, which is presented by the Country Radio Broadcasters (CRB).

“Anyone who misses this luncheon will be missing a once in a lifetime experience,” Benson said. “It is the type of event that makes you proud to work in Country Music.”
