NASHVILLE – Since 2005, when the CMA Songwriters Series began at Joe’s Pub, the series has established itself as one of New York City’s most popular, intimate nights of music. Back by popular demand for a third year, the series has flourished and on Thursday, Sept. 20 (7:00 PM/ET), will be part of “Joe’s Pub in the Park,” a two week musical festival held at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. On Thursday Oct. 4, the series will return to Joe’s Pub with a new crop of amazing songwriters.

The CMA Songwriters Series at “Joe’s Pub in the Park,” will include performances from Bob DiPiero (“Blue Clear Sky” recorded by George Strait and “You Can’t Take the Honky Tonk Out of the Girl” recorded by Brooks & Dunn); Gretchen Peters (“Independence Day” recorded by Martina McBride and “The Secret of Life” recorded by Faith Hill);  Rivers Rutherford (“Ain’t Nothin “Bout You” recorded by Brooks & Dunn and “Real Good Man” recorded by Tim McGraw); and Victoria Shaw (“The River,” recorded by Garth Brooks and “I Love the Way You Love Me” recorded by John Michael Montgomery).

“When we started the series in 2005 to coincide with the CMA Awards in New York City we knew it would be a success and it has since received rave views and sold-out crowds,” said CMA Chief Operating Officer Tammy Genovese. “We could not have teamed up with a better venue than Joe’s Pub and are extremely honored to be a part of the distinguished series “Joe’s Pub in the Park.’”

On Thursday, Oct. 4 (6:30 and 9:30 PM/ET), the series salutes the women of Country Music. Songwriters scheduled to appear at Joe’s Pub include Sarah Buxton (co-writer of “Stupid Boy,” by Keith Urban); Carolyn Dawn Johnson (“Single White Female” recorded by Chely Wright and “Downtime” recorded by Jo Dee Messina); Matraca Berg ("The Last One to Know" recorded by Reba McEntire and “Strawberry Wine” recorded by Deana Carter); and Gretchen Peters (“Independence Day” recorded by Martina McBride and “The Secret of Life” recorded by Faith Hill).

“The artists chosen for this series are performers who best represent the vision that makes Joe’s Pub special,” said Director of Joe’s Pub Bill Bragin. “Over the course of this two-week series, we are offering a snapshot of the caliber and range of talent that devotees find at Joe’s Pub almost every night, all year round. We are so fortunate to partner with the CMA and look forward to the Park as well as the series’ dates that will be back at Joe’s Pub on October 4 and November 29.”

Thursday, Nov. 29 marks the last show in the 2007 series saluting the groups/duos of Country Music. Songwriters for this show will be announced at a later date.
