CMA CEO TAMMY GENOVESE NAMED ONE OF 'BILLBOARD’S' TOP “WOMEN IN MUSIC” FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR

NEW YORK - Billboard released its fourth annual Women in Music list Friday honoring the top female executives in the music industry. And for the third consecutive year, Tammy Genovese, Chief Executive Officer of the Country Music Association, was named on the list.

"It is flattering to be in the company of these outstanding women executives and represent the Country Music industry on the Billboard list," said Genovese. "I am proud of our accomplishments as an industry. And I am grateful to the incredibly gifted and talented female executives who paved the way for me in my role as CEO of CMA."

The Women in Music list, which also includes CMA Board member Sue Peterson, Senior Buyer of Target Stores, is published in Billboard's fourth annual Women in Music issue that hit newsstands Friday. The list, which includes television executives, label heads and other women who have proven to be innovators in the industry, is selected and ranked by Billboard's editorial staff and does not include artists and songwriters. Billboard editors vote on several criteria: the ability of the executive to green light major projects; the success of that executive in the previous 12 months; and the professional demeanor and leadership demonstrated by the executive.

The career achievements of Genovese and the other female executives on Billboard's Top Women in Music list were not only acknowledged in Billboard magazine but  were  also celebrated at the third annual Women in Music Breakfast, which was held Friday at The St. Regis Hotel in New York City.

Genovese is currently overseeing preparations leading up to "The 42nd Annual CMA Awards," which will air on Wednesday, Nov. 12 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) live from the Sommet Center in Nashville on the ABC Television Network. "Country Music's Biggest NightTM" will feature performances from some of today's hottest musical acts, including co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood , along with Trace Adkins, Kenny Chesney and The Wailers, Eagles, Alan Jackson, Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, George Strait, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, and Keith Urban.
