KENNY CHESNEY AND CMA ANNOUNCE JOINT DONATION TO DOLLY PARTON’S MY PEOPLE FUND deepak December 15, 2016 Chris Young Joins CMA to Present Contribution During “Smoky Mountain Rise” Telethon, Pledging Additional Funds to Fire Relief NASHVILLE – 2016 CMA Pinnacle Award recipient Kenny Chesney and CMA are each donating $125,000 for a total contribution of $250,000 to Dolly Parton’s My People Fund to aid families devastated by recent wildfires in Gatlinburg, Tenn. CMA Chief Executive Officer Sarah Trahern, CMA Board Chairman Sally Williams, and CMA Board member Chris Young presented the donation during the “Smoky Mountains Rise: A Benefit for the My People Fund” telethon Tuesday in Nashville. The My People Fund provides $1,000 each month for up to six months to Sevier County families who lost their homes in the wildfires. Remaining funds from Chesney’s and CMA’s previously announced $500,000 joint contribution to fire relief will be distributed where need is the greatest with the hopes of reaching as many impacted families and individuals as possible, working with established local agencies in an attempt to identify those organizations that are providing valuable and necessary services. During the presentation, an inspired Young also announced a $50,000 donation to the cause on air, bringing the total contribution for the My People Fund to $300,000. Young, a Tennessee native, later performed the Christmas classic “There’s A New Kid In Town” during the telethon, which raised nearly $9 million. As announced from the stage during Young’s recent concert in Knoxville, CMA is also collecting new, unwrapped toys to support Toys for Tots in Gatlinburg through Friday, Dec. 16. Donations can be brought to the CMA offices at 35 Music Square East, Suite 201, during regular business hours (9:00 AM-5:30 PM/CT). On Tour Logistics, a Division of Averitt Express, has agreed to transport the toys from Nashville to Gatlinburg for free on Monday, Dec. 19.
