POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for making organizational decisions, managing overall operations, and working with the Board of Directors to establish the organization’s strategic direction. The CEO also serves as the public face of the organization and represents CMA in the community.

This position is based in Nashville, TN.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversees collaborative execution of all CMA events, television properties, television partnerships and related strategic partnerships
- Oversees execution of the CMA strategic plan; Participates in establishing strategic direction with the Board
- Ensures operational efficiency and effectiveness; recommends and implements new processes, and systems to improve organizational efficiency
- Oversees the company’s financial performance, investments, and other business ventures; ensures compliance with business laws, regulations, and company policies
- Manages CMA’s financial and human capital resources within budget parameters
- Prepares and manages the annual budget in collaboration with the Board and leadership team; develops and implements strategies that maximize financial performance
- Develops annual and project/event-based budgets and financial forecasts for Board approval
- Creates and maintains a culture of collaboration, transparency, accountability, continuous improvement, effective communication and efficiency in accordance with CMA values
- Ensures appropriate Board collaboration and communication
- Proactively leverages human capital of the CMA Board
- Serves as primary spokesperson for CMA
- Maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and investors
- Serves as the primary external representative of the company, acting as the face of CMA at industry events, with strategic partnerships and industry relations to build credibility and reinforce brand reputation, and deepen industry relationships
- Cultivates and expands network to support the company’s commercial growth strategy
- Leads, motivates and develops a high performing management team
- Establishes organizational succession plans that are approved by the Board
- Sets annual priorities, obtains approval from Board, and oversees execution and achievement of objectives
- The position also serves as President of the CMA Foundation Board of Directors
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 10 years of executive experience; Imbedded in media/entertainment industry; Passion for country music
- A proven track record of multi-million dollar budgetary and fiscal management, preferably in excess of $25M or more annually; Expertise in managing budgets, financial forecasting, and financial analysis
- Ability to serve and manage diverse constituents, navigating a complex business structure
- Ability to professionally represent CMA in the community; proven track record as external/ outfacing representative of previous companies
- Visionary/ forward-thinking approach (future of industry, technology, AI, global growth, etc.); proven ability to move a mission forward
- Experience in developing and leveraging human capital
- Experience reporting to Board of Directors preferred
- Skilled in identifying issues and resolving them efficiently and effectively
- Proven collaborator and consensus builder; Strong negotiation skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to make high-quality decisions based on analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment
- Experience with and established base of relationships in the country music industry preferred
- Experience in developing and executing marketing and sponsorship plans preferred
- Knowledge/understanding of trade association operations
- High emotional intelligence, humility, integrity
